NIPER Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) For M.Pharm And Ph.D

An Introduction

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) is the first national level institute in pharmaceutical sciences with a proclaimed objective of becoming a centre of excellence for advanced studies and research in pharmaceutical sciences. The Government of India has declared NIPER as an 'Institute of National Importance'. It is an autonomous body set up under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. The Institute is conceived to provide leadership in pharmaceutical sciences and related areas not only within the country, but also to the countries in South East Asia, South Asia and Africa. NIPER is a member of Association of Indian Universities and Association of Commonwealth Universities.

The Institute is located about 250 Km north of Delhi at S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali), Punjab on a total area of 130 acres.

Embedded Systems	Integrated first degree of BITS in Electrical & Electronics/ Electronics & Instrumentation/ Computer Science or its equivalent.
Microelectronics	Integrated first degree of BITS in Electrical & Electronics/ Electronics & Instrumentation/ Computer Science/ Physics or its equivalent.
Software Systems	Any Integrated first degree of BITS or its equivalent with specific prior preparation.
M.Pharm.	Integrated first degree of BITS in Pharmacy or its equivalent.
M.Pharm. (with specialization in Pharmacetical Chemistry/Pharmaceutics)	Integrated first degree of BITS in Pharmacy or its equivalent.

Note: Candidates with B.E./B.Tech degree in IT area will be eligible to apply for M.E. Software Systems only (they are not eligible for M.E. Computer science). They may also need some specific prior preparation.

Application Procedure:

The last date for applying to the Higher degree programs is 20th May 2015.

Admission Modality:

For admission to Higher Degree programmes leading to M.E./M.Pharm. candidates have to appear in the Online tests conducted by BITS at designated centers in different cities (See the advertisement and the detailed brochure available at the website while applying online) and the admission is made on the basis of the performance in the online test subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria.

All fees are to be paid in advance. Only caution deposit and mess advance is refundable after adjustment of dues at the time of withdrawal from the Institute. This applies to prospective candidates who are seeking admission as well as ongoing students of the Institute.

Assistantship ( Stipend and Fee waiver): Students admitted to the Higher Degree Programs will be considered for Teaching Assistantships with a stipend upto Rs. 11200/- per month and/or partial tuition fee waiver. selected candidates will be required to participate in teaching and other developmental programs of the institute under the guidance of faculty members.

Instructions for Payment:

(1) The above are for a normal situation. Wherever a student's programme gets modified or his progress is delayed beyond the maximum permissible, such a student is advised to consult the appropriate authority before registration. (2) $ The above prescribed semester fees is for the FD, HD and PhD students admitted in the academic year 2016-17.For these students, the semester, term and admission fees will be revised upward every year but will not increase beyond 15% each year. (3) The fees and other charges are payable in advance in each semester/term on the notified dates before registration. No withdrawal from a course or courses will entitle a student for refund of fees. (4) Students who go for Practice School II will be charged semester fees and the summer term fees because the practice school is longer than a semester and extends it to summer. (5) Casual students will pay fees prescribed for regular students. (6) Institute caution deposits are refundable only at the time of withdrawal from the Institute. (7) If there are dues outstanding from a student, his grades will be withheld. (8) Students who accumulate mess arrears would be required to pay a prescribed additional advance at the time of next registration.
